Day 4: Cape Town to Stellenbosch
Breakfast followed by checkout. Make your way to the Stellenbosch Winelands which are located approximately 45 minutes from Cape Town (ca 50 kms). Other than being a university town with beautiful Cape Dutch architecture it is also South Africa’s premier wine district. Take the opportunity to drive out to some of the most well known wine estates and sample their fine wines. Vineyards well worth a visit in the Stellenbosch area: Rust-en-Vrede, Kanonkop, Warwick Estate, Rustenburg and many more.

Here you will find many excellent restaurants with a number of them serving exquisite French cuisine. Examples of fine wine estates in the Franschhoek area: La Motte, Boschendal & Graham Beck. Restaurants in Franschhoek: Le Quartier Français – one of the top 50 restaurants in the world, Le Petite Ferme & Reuben’s Restaurant & Bar.
DAY 6: Stellenbosch to Oudshoorn
Breakfast followed by check out. Drive along the scenic R62 road past Robertson and Calitzdorp, arriving in Oudtshoorn in the afternoon (total driving distance approx. 400 km). If time permits you can visit one of the nearby ostrich farms and learn more about the world’s largest bird.

After lunch make your way towards the coast via George and on to Knysna. The distance of the journey is approximately 150 km. Knysna lies in the heart of the Garden Route and is a beautiful coastal town with indiginous forest on side and a lagoon on the other. The lagoon joins the sea between the majestic Knysna Heads. If you do not want to take the plunge you can always try the flying fox – a giant slide across the gorge. One can also just pay to walk and watch the bungee jumpers hurl themselves off the edge.
-
Another activity well worth trying is the canopy tour where you slide from tree to tree in the indigenous forest.
-
If the weather permits you can visit nearby Plettenberg Bay and enjoy some time on one of the beautiful beaches.
