In partnership with Turkish Airlines, we recently took a group of travel agents from Belgium on a tour de force of South Africa’s beautiful Garden Route, kicking off in Cape Town and ending up in Kariega Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape… Click here to view the amazing six-night itinerary and read on to find out more!
Cape Town is the perfect place to kick off a South African safari along Route 62 and the Garden Route, as our agents from Belgium found out on their recent familiarisation trip with us. Flying to Cape Town from Brussels via Istanbul and staying at the Blaauwberg Hotel overlooking Bloubergstrand Beach with its legendary views of Table Mountain and the Mother City, our group checked in and after freshening up embarked on some thrilling activities. These included taking in the colour of Bo Kaap and touring the city like motorcycle pros in magnificent sidecars, enjoying an end to our busy day with a fabulous dinner and tribal face-painting at Gold restaurant on the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.
Wine and wonder
Day two of our tour saw us leave Cape Town for the wonderful Robertson Wine Route and the gorgeous little town of Montagu, taking in the best this wonderful region of the Western Cape has to offer. We stopped en-route to taste some of South Africa’s sensational wines at Graham Beck, Zandvliet and Weltevrede! Staying overnight at the Monte Vista Boutique Hotel, dinner was at the incomparable Die Stal where a proper Karoo braai was enjoyed by all!
Barrydale or bust!
Day three of our Garden Route Revival tour took us on a cycling tour of Montagu before driving over to Barrydale on the border of the Overberg and Klein Karoo. En route we stopped at the Olijvenhof Olive Farm to enjoy some wonderful snack platters and a Tahlia Gin tasting with incredible views out over the stunning countryside.
After arriving in Barrydale we took part in a local “Amazing Race” that took in some amazing local sights and activities, from visiting local hand weavers, watching talented skateboarders strut their stuff, sampling the finest brandy and chocolate in a unique tasting and a host of other great things to see and do before checking into the wonderful Karoo Art Hotel for the evening.
We’ll be continuing our incredible safari in next month’s blog… So, watch out for the next instalment! And if you’d like to find out more about our itinerary, feel free to get in touch!
