Adventure on tap across Africa

The latest tourism research is demonstrating Africa’s domination of the growing global adventure travel trend, experiencing the fastest growth amongst continents in the segment since 2019. In 2023, 33% more travellers embarked on organised trips to Africa than pre pandemic, highlighting a flourishing interest in the myriad of experiences on offer beyond traditional safaris.

East African countries are excelling in particular, with Tanzania (48%), Uganda (37%) and Kenya (22%) among the continent’s top performers. The research shows that travellers are taking longer trips to more destinations than before the pandemic, and bringing more friends and family along with them, significantly driving up the spend on itineraries.

Extra capacity on FlySafair routes

FlySafair has increased capacity to prepare for peak tourism season over the Christmas period with the addition of two Boeing 737-800 NGs that will add 12-14 flights per day to the busy South african airline’s schedule.

The routes the new Boeings will be used on has not been confirmed, but it’s likely they’ll be added on routes between Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban to accommodate holiday travellers escaping the highveld for some serious beach time.

The first aircraft is expected to be added to the airline’s schedule in September. The second will be brought into service in November. Each aircraft will add 189 seats per flight to FlySafair’s capacity and will bring its total fleet number to 36 aircraft.

Come with us to Kruger!

Our recent Greater Kruger region fam trip with a group of agents from the Czech Republic went down a storm, thanks to our partnership with Ethiopian Airlines which flew them between Prague and Johannesburg, via Addis Ababa.

The trip reminded us how much this special part of South Africa offers, not just in terms of leisure tourism but also as a business tourism and incentive destination. The addition of the brand-new Radisson Safari Hotel in Hoedspruit has also opened up the market for MICE business and group travel thanks to its wonderful meetings and conference facilities and wonderful accommodation options.

Combining the Radisson Safari Hotel with a few days in the bush at one of the wonderful Simbavati Collection safari lodges and camps in both the Klaserie and Timbavati private reserves is also a fantastic option.
